Mizuno Wave Run @ NYP

It's the first time, a running event is so close to home. Coming out from a back injuries recovery(actually not completely) does make this run a daunting task. Furthermore, the distance is 10miles, not 10Km. The Mizuno Running Singlet is rather nice looking, Bright Red, though the sleeves...(side where your hand goes) is on the loose side...similar to Mt Faber...
Arrive pretty early @ 7am to deposit my bags and proceed to the starting line.
The Arrangement of their start and finishing line seem odd. First almost all the runners proceed to the finishing point(aka also the starting pt) causing the organiser urging the crowd to move in front to the correct position.

There quite a big crowd awaiting for the start of the race @ 7.30am. Suppose to meet Chicken, but it is no way to be found...
Once the race started, as there is quite a huge crowd already lining up it took me sometime to get to the starting point....
This is how long the line has formed....
As we all started off from the Poly's Stadium, we need to exit out to the car-park ahead and that where the problem comes...the lane is only about 3-4 person wide...and there is a long traffic jam...(I took my own sweet time here though since it will take sometime)
The running route was not close to the public vehicles, it the first time I have to be stop to allow cars to cross due to the traffic lights.....which is so irritating...It's seem like normal for most if not all Mizuno run, such as Mt Faber. I do hope the organiser can at least close one lane...as there seem to be safety issues..with so many runners running on the road...
The Run was longer than I expected it to be....the run into the Pierce Reveroir seems like never ending...and the jounery back, the up and down slope does make the run tough. At first I wonder did we make a wrong turn as there is no water-point here(Pierce Reservoir) for sometime...and no road marshal as well....
Though I must say running in the Pierce Reservoir section though tough but is rather fun...as never run into this part of Singapore before...something very similar to Mt Faber without the slope

On the Return leg to NYP, I actually see running running along the road and skip the Pierce Reservoir Section, make me wonder if we did ran a few extra km?? My Nike+ distance show about 1.5km more than that was shown on the board when we exited from Pierce...(but the Nike+ is not that accurate anyway)
But Overall, it still a fun run. I gald to be able to complete it...with a bit of walking...as my back is still a little painfully. Though the Timing was really bad....~2h14min lol (u might think this is a 21km run timing lol)
They even got a medal giving out once u completed the run. Will probably look forward to it next year on 10-Oct-2010. The Volunteers (NYP's students?) standing by at the finishing line to pass u the medal...how efficient...
Overall, The run was well organised.....little hicupps such as the location of the Start and End Booth, the narrow exit to the Car-park from the Stadium, The Confusing Pierce Reverior section and the location of the Road Marshal should be shorter, as I actually saw people not knowing where to run to... The Plus points is that the Run route is relatively Challenging..
Another point to note is the amount of Water @ the water-point area, It not about the number of water points but the quantity of water at these point..I actually went into the Water-point hoping to drink some water only to be surprise that they have run out of stocks....I saw a vehicle fetching the mineral water to the water-point....but these kind of stuff which might endanger runners should not happen in the first place...(I glad they have alot of these water available at the ending point though..
