TVB : 古靈精探

The 3rd show of the year, that I seen from TVB.

About a detective with super-powers....he can "read" dead people message by touching stuff that they left behind....

D.I.E, aka Death Investigation Extension, form when the management of the police department decided to put all those "lousy" people into this department.

Story
Consisted of several plot together. They are all "Cold Cases", cases that were never closed

  1. Missing man found dead at an "ulu" part of HK. Apparently the man have "old people Eat dumb" sickness
  2. 3 Rich guy involved in the suicide of sonja's friend back when they are studying. Now each of them start dying...
  3. The Case where a Bad Husband is murder by his mistress and the mistress in turn come and live with his wife...and even help them.
  4. A Case which involved Sonja's previous Boyfriend, He is suspected to be involved in a murder....his new girlfriend is killed and he is the main suspect.
Storyline
Refreshing, though TVB is very good at their Investigation type/Police drama serial, this one was different, and added in a supernatural elements to the serial. They Re-invented the serial, making it actually interesting to follow than being bored with lot of scientific Jargon sometimes

Actors/Actress Performance

郭晉安, Roger Kwok, who acted as "Ah Wang" was known his comedic skills. Here he does not disappoint. He have this super-natural power of picking up message from dead people. His Chemistry with 郭羡妮 is really natural. His screen chemistry with the "ghost" character is also funny and witty.

馬國明 as head of the CID, he is known to be the one, women want to be with, but he let temptation acts in and fall in love with a reporter, His Relationship with 郭羡妮 suffered. Though I can't say this is a positive role to act, but just feel his screen-time and impression wasn't as strong as 郭羡妮 and 郭晉安, even the ghost Character fare slightly better with lesser screen-time to boot.

曾華倩, say to be her first come-back role after leaving TVB year ago. She does seem to have age abit, but acting as 郭晉安's elder sister suit her alot. Back in the older days, She wasn't known for her comedic skill (Never seen her act in one), but she is super-good here as well, acting along 郭晉安 does make her look younger though...

郭羡妮, I believe this is the serial that we can see mark improvement in her acting skills. Last time she use to give me the impression that she is like a "vase"especially in 學警出更. But here, she give character to the role she is in...and I can't bear to watch any of the scene without her around. Her screen time make the show interesting.

郭政鴻, consider him as a supporting actor, and he provide the occasional digression to the usual investigation theme. Love interest to 曾華倩 and a funny affair as well which involved a Cat.

梁家仁, 郭晉安's Dad in the show. His chemistry with 郭晉安 could have been further develop. Let's hope that can happen in part 2, Yes , they are filming a Sequel. Wonder how though with the ending of Part 1.

Don really know who she is, but she have the potential here...though her screen time is really short...she make full use of her time. I think she make a good impression.

Ending
The ending is quite unexpected, was expecting something happy, but turn out that 郭晉安 was killed by a car. I heard that there is an alternative ending, But didn't find it on the disc though

Worth seeing?

Definitely. I will say this beat out 法證先鋒II hand down. Much light-hearted and easy to follow. Lesser subplot so u can remember the story better..

Though I still prefer,與敵同行

High Tea Buffet @ The Straits Cafe, Rendezvous Hotel

It was my treat for this chicken's 34th Birthday....which he promise to treat me to another high Tea soon, but so far....he had not kept his promises...(well, what can u expect from a Chicken)

The Place, Rendezvous Hotel, @ The Straits Cafe. I was told they are famous for their Durian Dessert, like those found in Sakura International Buffer @ YCK

Buffet Starts @ 3pm. But it was quiet when I reach there, but good for us....as we can take time to have whatever we want without food running out and crowded queuing.

Nouya Stuff are not one of their attraction here...as I found nothing...but included are japaness variety of sushi, raw salmon and the locally famous...Satay...yummy!!though the Gravy could have been better..

Their "Century Egg" Congee...not hot enough....cannot expect it to be better than Crystal Jade's ones right

Chinese Variety such as buns(Char Siew) and Chicken wings tasted all right....nothing extremely out of the blue...

My "Hand-make" Rojak...aka...mixture of everything nice

Satay and "dou po" only found in Singapore....High-Tea

Got around the Place to take these photos...hopefully they serve as a good guide of what to expect from the place..

Though they don have alot of sushi variety, but it's hard to find high-Tea with Sushi included...so this is a plus here...

Typical Chinese stuff here...I think this is stuff with Char Siew fillings..if I'm not wrong

Wow...my mum used to cook this at home...kinda "cheapo" that they put it in their high-tea menu for $30+ dollars

Another bun, forgotten what they stuff in here..though..

Here comes the Seafood stuffs....the fresh Prawns...!!..but u will need to peel-off the shell....I'm too lazy to do it..lol...but this is the expensive stuff here....

Have abit of this.....but only if you can take raw-stuff and the taste of it....lemon is recommended..but fresh on the whole

Kim-Chi from Korea is included, but it a far far cry from the ones I tasted back in Korea, It's just not as fresh...the kim-chi taste...kinda being overtaken by the hotness...lol

Fruits is of course included..as in anyother high-tea...

Syrup is also provided for their ice-cream fillings.....nice...

The most famous dish...Durian.....dessert...yummy..never tasted such nice dessert...way way better than those at Sakura...and they run out very fast...I only have like 3 cups....so remember to grab these (as much as u can take) when u are there..."chicken", manage to grab quite a few

Beside the Durian, I was also mermised by the durian cake and the red ruby...total....delicious...they all taste sweet and make u feel happy...lol

At the End....I probably ate like more than a 1000 Calories of energy here...and the tummy of mine is ever growing....time to hit the road..for more runs..lol...growing older does not help as well.....

So is the high-tea worth coming again.....price of 34++ is bit steep, but if you like Durian, u can't miss this one out....7 out of 10...I graded...

This is by far the best high-Tea I have........

It's running season again....After the Sub-Urban Run in March. Upcoming run include

I hope to better my 1:04 timing that I did back in March @ The Sub-Urban 10Km Run. My Timing last year was 1:09 though it was say that last year distance was actually 11.5Km. Let hope that they wouldn't make the mistake on the measurement this time round
Date : 24-May @ 7.30am

Mizuno Mount Faber Run - First time taking part in a hilly run....looks to be a scenic run....we shall see..the route seem to be around the southern ridges region. This one will be tough as they is quite alot of terrain runs here.
Date : 14-Jun-09, 7.30am

Singapore Bay & Army Half Marathon - My First 21Km run this year and only my 2nd time attempt at this distance. Took me about 2:37 last year to complete the run. Aim to better the timing by at least 15min..

Cell-mates Birthday Gathering

Have an Early Celebration with my Church's Mates in early Mar (1st) sometime back though...Almost forgotten to put it up on the Blog.

Wanted to put it up mainly due to 2 reasons....
  • Birthday celebration is seldom of this size since my uni Days.
  • Kinda a big gathering also

Place of Makan ...A Jap Resturant called....."casual Jap Cusine", @ Bugis Junction. This is the Ramen I had.....and taste really delicious...lol

We order some sushi just for "finger" food..

Prices are really quite reasonable....most important the Atmosphere is really good and we have a good spot overlooking the shopping street downstair.

Group photos of the gang who were there...(seem like the ISO setting bit high as most of our face look really "white"

Surprise that at 40% into my 30s, I still get to receive a wrapped present.

Turn out to be a watch....heard from my cell-leader, WH, that this came all the way from the States....haven't been wearing a watch for quite sometime....mainly due to those watches I had almost "died" and don wish to get another watch....so this present come at the right time.

Thanks to the gang for the thought and I hope I have make this session enjoyable....been spending really less time with the gang due to work schedule.

TVB : 法證先鋒II

Just finsh watching this....the Sequel to the 2007 hit serial on TVB's network. This time round they added 鄭嘉穎 and 佘詩曼. PRobably hot from their win in the Annual TVB awards also.

Let summarise my opinion of the serial.
Will start off what I find disappointing about the show..

Disappointment
  • They Kill off Linda Chung characters....She only have screen time for the first 4 episodes. How Lame...
  • 蒙嘉慧 screen time was reduce due to her injuries. She even went away for studies ...
  • 佘詩曼 have way too much screen-time in the show
  • 佘詩曼 and 鄭嘉穎 together with 林文龍, their love relationship is not being concluded properly...look like she like 林文龍 more but some-how 鄭嘉穎 got the girl kind of feeling...

Plot
Largely forgetable plots...though...but still generally good storyline...where it keep the audience at their seat guessing who is the murder.

The Last Case on the Actress starting dying on set..leading to the finale of the explosion scene which got 鄭嘉穎 into a coma....was best remember...mainly due to it is a longer plot and case.

Another one was the one that got Linda killed and 蒙嘉慧's hand injured was also quite good....

They is quite a number of small cases here and there...
  • 佘詩曼's brother got into trouble with food poison @ his Resturant.
  • 歐陽震華's former girl-friend hubby who become temperamental and eventually fall to his death..
  • Death @ the paintball court.
  • There is also one that involved a famous actress who design her way out of crime...
  • a set of bone found,.....a murder that took place some 10 year ago...involving 鄭嘉穎 and 林文龍
  • Person carry drugs was killed...
  • Son & Dad knock down a lady listening to H/P and dad cover-up for son.
  • Killing at a residential area involving the security guard.
Can't remember all the forensic plots in the serial.

Actor/Actress Performance
Best Actor for the show goes to....歐陽震華....He can basically act anybody and still appear natural. Here as a boyfriend for 蒙嘉慧' or the boss of the Forensic science Dept.

Honourable mentioned
Florence Kwok and Raymond Cho. They provide the funny moment for the show. One is a demanding and high-class individual and the other a happy go lucky and sloppy kinda guy...seeing them getting together is really funny

Best Actress for the show ....I will say..佘詩曼, I choose her over 蒙嘉慧 due to the latter shorter screen time and "ah 佘" role really allow her to show her acting skills.

鄭嘉穎 and 林文龍..was ok for their role...The former join the team, but I find it funny as he give me the impression he already know everything and need not much coaching....but he does fit in quite properly

Lastly, would I recommend the show. YES ...only if u have follow Part 1, else you will be a bit lost at first. There are more cases here and it 30 Episode long, but the acting bring up the show.... and is best enjoy in Original Cantonese dialogue.

Overall, 7 out of 10

Check out this site, which details every singel episode...though there is some spolier here.

Thai Food & Some Bak Gu Tek with LC

Kinda Celebrate my "belated" birthday with LC and Victoria...aka LC's Daughter...Was planning to see a show then head off for Dinner....but was really hungry so ...we went pass this "BaK Gu Teh" store at the Foodcourt @ Suntec City and Decided to give it a try...lol

Order that "famous" Dish ...Bak Gu Teh....Literally Translated to Meat-Bone-Tea...This dish is famous both in Singapore as well as Penang where they are famous for their peppery soup base. The one here does not taste as pepperish....personally don really think is nice....would prefer the ones @ the AMK Hawker Center any day....(You get the result right!!)

Beside "Bak Gu Teh", we also order the ever "sinful", Pig Leg as well...nothing really great about this dish as it is all Fats...lol

Add in a plate of Oyster sauce KaiLan....and that completed our lunch....

The Verdict....Don waste your $$ trying out this Store....You Can get way better or about the same stuff for cheaper...

Not To forget...it was IT Show day that day as well, and LC's want to buy something....from the show....(Memory cards)....They even have to control the crowd getting to the show..buy stopping people from getting onto the escalator....IS THERE REALLY A RECESSION HERE IN SINGAPORE?? I serious doubt so....especially when it come to PC/Consumer Electronics products and when huge discount are given...lol

Thai Food was next during Dinner....suddenly have a craving for it....though I don usually take spicy stuff!!....We order a Set Dinner for 2 with an additional rice though....Include the Spicy hot Tom Yam Soup....This one I drink only a little....

Green Curry...I like this one alot though it is also extremely hot...

Lucky there is still something that is not Hot...Prawn ball....

Sambal Kangkong...though spicy is also a dish I like...but this is pretty common in singapore...can be found anyway in coffeeshop "Zi Cha" stores

This is something unique...did not taste this when I was in Bangkok last time....very appertising bit spicy but still ok.

Like to Thank LC and Victoria for this Enjoyable treat though I went through it full of sweat after that...FYI...This Thai' Resturant is @ Marina Square...Balti Thai...!!

Mum's Birthday on the 13th

Of course we have A birthday Cake as well...Ice-Cream Cake to be exact from swenson...only difference is we didn't sang a birthday song..:-)...Was quite delicious as well...

Being her "nanny" as well as granny.....a photo with the 姑.

The Official Candle Blowing....

Let's not reveal mummy's age here.....she still pretty younger wo...aka...her hair is still black!!
